Getting Inspired

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

While flipping through Anthropologie's magazine the other day, an idea hit me. All the photos were so lovely, full of warmth and light -- something I aim to capture. So why not use them for inspiration? I gathered a few more magazines, Free People and Madewell, and started creating an idea/inspiration board. I'm hoping this board will spark new photography, and even videography, ideas in me. Take a look at the finished product and tell me what you think. What inspires you?

Sophia & August

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

My friend, Sophia, and her little brother, August, were my first official clients. They wanted photos taken to give to their dad on his birthday -- brownie points for being thoughtful kids. The three of us ventured around the Quad on what was thankfully an above-freezing Sunday afternoon. It was so fun snapping photos of these two who, in my opinion, could pass as twins.

Go ahead, take a peek:

This video was put together over the past few weeks, just for kicks and giggles. I know it's short in length but it makes me smile. I hope it makes you smile too.

LR5 and VSCO Film

Saturday, January 4, 2014

After months of dreaming about Adobe Lightroom 5 and VSCO Film, I finally downloaded both products as a Christmas gift from my parents. For a while now, I have been using VSCO Cam   the iPhone app that lets you edit photos on your phone using VSCO presets   so moving up to VSCO Film for Lightroom is pretty exciting. Being able to achieve the realness of film with a DSLR is amazing, and VSCO Film accomplishes it perfectly. The look of film is unlike anything else: raw, grainy, and filled with warmth.

Below are a few images I edited using VSCO Film Pack 01 in Lightroom 5. What do you think of  the VSCO film look?

Last weekend I snapped photos for these five beautiful roommates at Crystal Lake Park in Urbana. It isn't hard to tell that these girls are good friends. Not to mention, they're all pretty hilarious. Such a fun shoot!

Wedding Day

Monday, September 23, 2013

This past Saturday, I was lucky enough to shadow Blaine and Kelsey of Wright Photographs at a wedding in Allerton Park. I held their camera gear and was able to take some pictures of my own -- eek! The weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding, and I was so excited to be there. The wedding itself was beautiful and perfectly decorated, right down to the tiniest details.
